I love my dvds. I have a decently large collection. My problem is, should i still invest in them? Do you think Blu Ray players (and whatever format comes after) will always be able to play dvd discs?

For that matter, is it worth investing in Blu Rays? I dont have a blu ray player yet, but am considering buying one (for Blu Rays and to upscale my dvds…) Personally I LOVE having hard copies, but if they stop making them…i don’t want to waste the money.

Thanks in advance! Much appreciated!

Best answer:

Answer by heymypeeps
No it is not worth buying dvds anymore. Although they are great, you should invest in blu ray. better picture quality and 7.1 channel surround sound out. I own a blu ray player and blu ray dvds and i can say they are the best.

I have a Panasonic Palmcorder VDR-D50 and i cant put my videos from the dvd-rw on youtube! I tried converting them into other files but it had a huge watermark and i had to buy it!! PLEASE HELP!! And please tell me how to put them on without downloading anything!

Best answer:

Answer by stephanie
The best thing I can think of is to put your video in Windows Movie Maker and save it as an avi or wmv file. Then upload that to youtube. Windows Movie Maker is free and comes on Windows computers. You can also download it if you don’t have it. It’s pretty simple to figure out, and to save a video as an avi or wmv file, go to the left side under where it says “3. Finish Movie” and click on “Save to My Computer”. Hope this helps.

I have my family’s home videos on several DVDs that I transferred from tapes a while ago. How do
I rip clips from those DVDs to make a composition on windows movie maker? Is there some sort of DVD ripping program I can buy? (I’d prefer one in a store to one purchased and downloaded off the Internet.) thanks!!!

Answer by Ac
Xilisoft DVD Ripper http://www.brothersoft.com/xilisoft-dvd-ripper-ultimate-74443.html?utm_source=answer&utm_medium=sweet&utm_campaign=dvd

I like it, its powerful and easy-to-use DVD ripping software with the ability of ripping DVD to almost all video and audio formats, such as MPEG-4, AVI, DivX, Xvid, RM, FLV, SWF, MOV, 3GP, and more. Besides, its very fast and worth the cost

Is it possible to connect them together? And what items do i need to accomplish that?

Best answer:

Answer by Robert W
Most dvr’s have a line one output on the back. Connect a/v cables from that to you computer, play the dvr and record on you cpu.
You will probably have to buy a cable that has a/v on one end and whatever input you cpu needs.

or a dvd/vhs combo that has the same features as my above description and can record tv.

Answer by abaer01
I just got a Panasonic at SAM’s. It was the cheapest I’ve seen and works well (but not on copywrite protected VCR tapes to DVD. It’s not allowed!) Great for putting my camcorder tapes onto and some transfers from my DVR as well.

Question by : XFX 8600 GT 256MB DDR3 XXX PV-T84J-UDD3 Going to buy..?
Yeah i’m going to buy a refurbished one of these for $ 42, is it worth it? My friend said fuck yes, but is that true? hmmmm..

Best answer:

Answer by Daniel
No. Is it PCI or PCI-Express? Never get refurbished things anyway. Also, Im not sure how many watts this uses, probably around 50. So that shouldnt be a problem. But If you do have PCI-E slots, upgrade your PSU to 550W (ATX, Not Micro ATX) and get a GeForce 9800GT 1GB.

if your getting it for gaming, proceed with above.
If not, I guess so

EDIT: After realising that its an 8600 and that XFX made it, get the 512mb version of the Nvidia GeForce 8600.

Also, this is a PCI-E card, so make sure your computer has a PCI-E x16 slot open. If you dont have a PCI-E x16 slot open, get a new comp. Make sure its not micro ATX though.
